"This place is amazing. Full of antiques and historical pieces. The castle is clean and cozy with many comfy places inside and out to relax. Amenities are incredible and the breakfast was so delicious in a gorgeous dining room! Best place to stay on ocracoke island for a quiet or romantic getaway with beautiful views of the water. Highly recommend."

"This unique, listed hotel is a delight. Managed by an Oxford University graduate, it features 3 floors of unique rooms. The hotel includes a very generous breakfast of eggs, bacon, croissants, and coffee to guests. We loved it."

"Absolutely amazing stay. My only critique is they are fairly strict about bookings and checkout times without much room for flexibility (understandable.) But that's it. Me and my girl had an amazing time. We stayed in Janes room in the castle for me and my partners anniversary and are already talking about coming back to visit again. The castle has so much character and charm, while also being immaculately upkept and cleaned. The gentleman who greeted me had amazing energy and gave me a grand tour as well as information about all of the amenities including the pool, and the free bike rentals for offer to guest, as well as the best complimentary breakfast I've ever had. Best stay I've had in the outer banks from someone who has stayed at nearly every town from Ocracoke to Duck. My recommendation is wake up early, enjoy your breakfast out on the raised water dock out front which is open to guest, and use the bikes to explore the island! Rooms: If you're hesitant due to the age of the hotel, don't be. Everything is kept extremely well. The room was large and clean. Even the bathroom was spotless. I felt right at home cozying up in the sheets and enjoying the view. Food & drinks: Complimentary breakfast was prepared fresh in the kitchen, and was great. Noteworthy details: The ammenties included make this place feel like a bargain. Waterfront raised patio to enjoy drinks or food, free bike rentals, a heated pool, and pool house with sauna and massage lounges."

"Wonderful facility. Staff is just great! Although an historic building, it is extremely well maintained. Our room and head were spotless. Breakfast by Martha was over the top. We had to make a change to our stay and both Kim and Amanda who handle bookings were so very helpful. We will be back! Noteworthy details: They have a floating dock with space available for guest boats."

"Our stay was exceptional. We were only there one night while traveling from Nags Head to Wilmington. The building has historic and eccentric charm. We walked to the nearby lighthouse and Springers Point. Breakfast was excellent. Noteworthy details: I recommend learning about Samuel Jones, the guy that built the place. You can also visit his gravesite at Springer's Point where he was buried next to his horse."

"This place was lovely! We have been coming to the island for the last 18 years and always rent a house for the week in the fall. My husband and myself wanted a little time away, without our grown daughters and dogs, so chose the Castle. Check in was flawless. Walked straight to our room, and everywhere else in the house, as I had looked at the floor plan on the website. Neat! Our room was in the front of the house on the first floor (Marys) and was very warm. It was better once we realized there was a vent under the bed covered up by the area rug! Also, the couple across the hall gave us a big fan that was in their room. So nice! The breakfast each morning was very good and the cook was a very nice lady. Having the bikes to grab and go was a nice touch as we normally rent them for the week. We didnt get a golf cart since we were there only a few days, but there is dedicated parking for them. We would definitely stay here again!"

"The people who do not find this place at 5 stars are either unlucky or really critical. This place is what you expect a bed and breakfast to be. We stayed in the main building. It isn't a hotel. The rooms are all unique and the place is filled with antiques. The AC may not be the best but our room was plenty cool. The television didn't have a clear picture in our room but we weren't there to watch TV. There was a larger TV in the living area that had a roku if anyone had to see something. Breakfast at 8am was superb and Marta was kind and kept up with the crowd. Fresh baked fig cake was a treat one morning. There is now a code entry to the rooms as there is no staff there after a certain time of the day to handle check in. This worked seamlessly for us. We are aware that another couple had a little trouble getting into their room but it didn't take long for them to get in. Maybe they had the wrong number or didn't follow instruction. The place is a really big house and it feels like home. You can roam around as you like and enjoy the pictures and neat furniture. And the gardens and pool are beautiful. There's a view of the Marina. Ice machine off kitchen area with water. Don't miss out. This is a historic building and has a lot of character and history on Ocracoke. We stayed in Ginny's room. We picked it based on it's vicinity to the screen porch which we sat on quite frequently. It is one of the smaller rooms but still plenty of space."

"Amazing Place! A few tipstip: If you get "Patti's room" be prepared to be woken up by the guests who must have been up that early! . (the only negative thing; should have had a SIGN, please be aware, people sleeping on first floor). ALSO would have been great to have a person on-hand to answer any local questions; no one to greet any guests."

"We have stayed in the Villas (not the bed and breakfast) every time we have gone to Ocracoke. The building is very cool and it is a good location near the harbor, and there is a pool. The villas are nice and have a costal feel. However, when we visited last in June 2021, we noticed several cosmetic issues: the stove top was a bit messed up, the door handle kept falling of, and the outside wood was getting rough and covered with wasp nest. Nice place to stay and will stay here again, but it could use a bit of TLC. Rooms: The villa we stayed in had a main area with a full kitchen, living room, screened porch, bedroom, bathroom with jet tub. There was a separate studio like room with a kitchenet, a bed, and a futon, and a bathroom. Nearby activities: Lots Walkability: Easy to walk to everything Food & drinks: No food Noteworthy details: Pool"

"Unique experience. Rooms were clean, but our bathroom was small. Breakfast was delicious and we loved meeting the other guests. The pool and sauna were well maintained and very clean. We loved having cocktails on the widow's walk overlooking Silver Lake Harbor. Beautiful location. Noteworthy details: Bikes, heated pool, and sauna available. All were well maintained and very clean. Price was a great value."
